Count Your Blessings

Hi!  I am having the best Saturday!  On this day in history LAST year, I was FREAKING OUT.  So much to do to get ready for the little cherubs who would be walking through my classroom door in just a few short days.  

Now don't get me wrong.  I am still totally freaking out this year too.  But I am taking a break from it right now :)

Last year on the Saturday before school started I did 6 hours of homework for my master's degree.  My house was a disaster, dogs had not been walked, and my poor husband was doing ALL of that just to support me while I finished that baby up.  Well, it paid off because this year I am DONE.  So this morning I got up, leisurely ate my homemade granola and drank my coffee, then cleaned my WHOLE entire house and did laundry, and now I'm doing a little craft updating before going to school to get some things done!  

And it's not like I really like cleaning at all, but I recently cleaned a friend's house because he has cancer and can't clean it himself.

It made me feel so blessed this morning to be able to clean my house.  Ah.

So now on to the real matter at hand...

This gorgeousness is from BoBunny and a My Creative Scrapbook past kit.  My husband and I were on a little weekend getaway and stopped so he could fish for a while.  

Plus check out my spray tan!!!!  Yes, I know.  You're saying, "You have a spray tan?  You were still super whitey when I saw you!" Right?  Okay, that's because this was taken last summer during my master's degree break between classes.

It's such a count your blessings type of day.   I hope it is for you too!

Once Upon a Sketch August Challenge

I feel like I've stumbled upon the jackpot of all card and scrapbook challenges lately!  I just discovered the Once Upon a Sketch blog, and look at this gorgeous sketch!  If that isn't inspiration, I don't know what it.  My favorite part right away was the fence.  Ooooh, I love it!  

And then my life got even better when I realized I have the *perfect* little fence for this page.  

This great picture of my cat really got my juices flowing with some hidden journaling (behind photo) about how very lazy she can be on a hot summer day.  These beautiful papers from Pink Paislee were perfect!

While I jumped up to take another look at the sketch, there she went and hopped right up on my chair.  Sorry it's a little fuzzy because she's so quick, but of course, she had to approve before I showed her to the world!   

A Little Tag

Just a little tag for today that I made a long time ago using a bunch of Tim Holtz goodness.  

See?  That's just one more little birdie I have in my stash...  :)

Old Friends

Here is a card I made a few weeks ago for one of my very best friends.  I think we've been friends for going on 23 years.  

Wow that makes me feel a little older than I am.

Now she lives in Colorado and she and her husband are about to become first-time parents in October.  I wanted to send her a little something to let her know I was thinking about her, and this set from Stampin' Up was perfect!

Mojo Monday #252

I think this whole A-New-Sketch-Every-Single-Monday thing is really going to be workin' for me, so thank you very much Mojo Monday #252. 

At least for a few more weeks until school starts and everything is crazy again anyway.

This card was so much fun!  I have never tried a shaped card before (why is that?), so this week's sketch was a great push for me to get thinking!

The whole entire thing was made with papers from February's My Creative Scrapbook kit which had all of these lovely Crate Paper beauties in it.  (This is the same kit as The Kit I Thought I Hated--but that I really really really loved.)  

The good thing is I have a head start on Valentines Day for next year for my hubby!
