I never wanted a cat. I actually was the exact opposite of wanting a cat at all. Many times my husband said he wanted to bring a kitten home and many times I said no way, Jose.
So here's our cat.
Hmm. How did it happen? Well, one day at work my husband found this abandoned little kitten in the dead of winter in a barn. She was mewing her head off, and animal lover that he is, he absolutely could not leave her there. He called me once again, to tell me that he was bringing home a kitten. I didn't believe him. Then I said, we can't keep her, we have to give her away.
Then I saw her. Awwwww. Cutest little roly poly, friendly, purring, hungry, blue-eyed beauty I'd ever seen, and the rest is history.
